The Port of Newcastle has changed significantly in its 200 years of operation, from its early years of convicts digging coal from surrounding cliffs to a thriving gateway taking Hunter and NSW products to the world. From sailing ships and shovels to today's modern technology with open cut mines, huge shiploaders, containerisation and some of the largest bulk carriers and container ships in the world. |
