The Mission to Seafarers

Newcastle Port Corporation is proud to be a supporter of the local Mission to Seafarers, a Christian organisation that for 150 years has cared for seafarers of all nationalities visiting Australian ports.

The Mission offers all seafarers a warm welcome when they arrive in the various ports around Australia. It supports seafarers in many ways, such as getting in touch with their family after time at sea, providing a chaplain to speak to them about personal issues or just helping with telephone and postal services.

Many people staffing the Seafarers Centre are volunteers who give freely of their time to keep the facility open to seafarers.

The local Mission to Seafarer is located at 96 Hannell Street, Wickham and is open between 1200 hrs (midday) and 2200 hours (10pm) every evening.
