Port Services Section

The Port Services Section is based at the Pilot Station.

The primary job of the Port Services Section is to provide a customer service to all port users.

They also have a responsibility to ensure that there are no oil spills and to investigate any suspected oil spills or pollution in the port, as well as to do patrols, paper work such as monitoring and approving of all dangerous goods, oil transfers and work permits.

The Master/Engineer drives the larger launches for pilot transfer outside the heads, and also looks after all the machinery pertaining to the pilot station, including the boats and associated plants.

The Port Officers primarily attend to customer service, security, and assist on the cutter, and have responsibilities for oil spill and pollution control.

The section also supplies a vessel when maintenance is being done on the navigation aids in the port, or for inspection around the wharfs, and sometimes to take visitors or media around the port to look at something.
