Vessel Traffic Information

The primary role of the VTIC is to operate the Corporation's ship booking system, which includes planning, booking and coordinating vessel movements.

The VTIC operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

VTIC staff communicate with vessels arriving at the port, at anchor and within the port, providing them with information about anchoring and pilot transfer - which is by helicopter or cutter.

The staff also liaise with berth operators, ships agents, duty pilots, tug and lines companies.

The operators also have coast radio responsibilities to listen out for distress and emergency calls.

The VTIC provides a single point of contact to all port customers and also ensures compliance with port procedures and regulations.

The general contact number for the VTIC is 02- 4985 8292.
